Cymbals for Worship

Cymbals for worship

Which cymbals are right for your worship setting?

We’ve spent years playing in everything from small wooden halls to large auditoriums, consulting with worship drummers, pastors, and congregation members to build a lineup that works in any church context.

8 ways to improve your church drum sound

The right cymbals help — but so does how you play them. These tips make a real difference in any room.

1

Talk to your drummers about technique — play dynamically, respond to the room and the song.

2

Never tell drummers to hit harder — it shortens the life of cymbals and drum heads.

3

Use lighter sticks — 7A, 8A, or 5A. Avoid 2B sticks in a worship context.

4

Choose larger and darker cymbals over bright — they’re more dynamic and lower in volume.

5

Use dampeners like Snareweights and lower drum tuning, especially on the snare.

6

Play across cymbals, not straight down — reduces volume and improves tone.

7

Add more overheads in the IEM mix so drummers can hear themselves without hitting harder.

8

Mount cymbals lower, looser, and angled toward the drummer for better feel and projection.

The series

Find the right cymbal for your setting

All four series are designed for worship — here’s how to choose between them.

Vertical Raw Series cymbals
Dark and complex

Vertical Raw Series

Thinner, drier, and darker than anything else in the lineup. Short decay, minimal wash — designed so front-of-house engineers can actually put the overheads back in the mix.

Best for: small to medium rooms, acoustic-style worship, very volume-conscious environments
